Damaged Timber Roof Repairs & New Under-Tile Membrane Installation , Gallo Manor, Sandton

This project involved a complete restoration of a severely deteriorated tiled roof in Gallo Manor, Sandton, where long-term water ingress had caused extensive damage to the timber roof structure and under-tile waterproofing system.

7:24 Roofing began by systematically removing the existing concrete roof tiles, ensuring they could be safely reinstalled once the structural repairs were completed. With the roof exposed, 7:24 Roofing removed all rotten tile battens, counter battens and deteriorated timber before carrying out a detailed inspection of the roof trusses. Any damaged structural timber was repaired or replaced to restore the roof's strength and integrity.
To ensure a long-lasting solution, 7:24 Roofing supplied and installed new SABS-approved Grade 5 structural timber, together with new treated counter battens and tile battens. A high-quality 250-micron under-tile membrane was then installed across the entire roof, providing a modern secondary waterproof barrier designed to protect the home against wind-driven rain and future leaks.

As an additional layer of protection, 7:24 Roofing installed a Malthoid slip sheet beneath the timber battens. This helps isolate the timber from trapped moisture, significantly reducing the risk of premature timber decay and extending the lifespan of the roof structure.

Once the waterproofing system was complete, all original roof tiles were carefully reinstalled, aligned and secured, leaving the roof structurally sound, weatherproof and ready to provide many years of reliable performance.
